The information cannot be pasted because the copy and paste areas are not the same size and shape
I want to copy a block of data - 7 columns worth, and paste it to a separate worksheet in my w/b - the first block copies/pastes fine, but when I try to paste a 2nd block of data below the first block, I get the following error message:
The information cannot be pasted because the copy area and the paste area are not the same size and shape. Try one of the following:
Click a single cell, and then paste
Select a rectangle that's the same size and shape, and then paste.
... the problem is I want to do this programmatically via a macro, not manually - is there a work-around for this ?
When I select my row, copy, special paste, and transpose a message that reads:
The information cannot be pasted because the Copy area and the paste area are not the same size and shape. Try one of the following:
Click a single cell, and then paste Select a rectangle that's the same size and shape, and then paste
I have no idea what this means. Any help out there?
A couple of days ago, I started having trouble copying and pasting. The error message: data on clipboard is not the same size and shape as the selected area. Do you want to paste anyway? I have tried clearing the clipboard but it won't allow me to copy and paste formulas. It also appears to be clipped to Word. When I close Excel and reopen it the data is still on the clipboard.
I have two excel files. In one file I have 475 entries. When I apply filter I get 175 entries. Now In the other excel file I have some data for those exact 175 entires . I wanted to copy those data for each column from excel file 2 and wanted to paste in file one. If I paste directly, it will never matches the corresponding cells. I tried to select the visible cells only option in the file one and then tried to paste the column data, but it didn't work. It says "the information cannot be pasted because the copy area and the paste area are not in the same size and shape"
Is there any way I can copy data from file 2 i.e .(without filters) and paste in file 1 (with filters).
I am simply trying to paste one column of data from one workbook to another and I keep getting an error message that the copy cannot be pasted because the copy area and the paste area are not the same size and shape. What am I doing wrong? I thought this should be a simple function to perform. Can anyone please help because I am doing a project and am stuck!
