Running macro from drop down list.....after update?
I have a list of tables that have a similar structure. I would like to make a new (single) table with a header that contains a drop down list of the options. In my example, sheet 1 contains Northeast, Southeast and Gulf coast followed by a table of values, respectively. I would like to reduce this to a single table, as in sheet 2, where the drop down includes Northeast, Southeast and Gulf coast and when the corresponding location is chosen, the values update. I have no trouble with vlookup or creating the drop down list, but I cannot seem to make an array of values update based on changing the drop down list value.
I would like to ask you if you can help me.
So I would like to do:
1. on the 1st sheet I want to have some columns and that you can choose content from drop list
2. the same table I will put on the 2nd sheet and use is as database, each column fills drop list from 1st sheet
3. I want that my drop list is automatically updated if I change content from the column in 2nd sheet (base for data)
I would appreciate your help with example, I'm a beginner in Excel 2007.
I would like to setup a formula where by when I select from a drop down list of P1 - P12, I would then like this selection to update the relevant P sheet to update with the requested information? Please can anyone help me with this as a matter of urgency as I need to submit this for approval?
My office is stuck using excel 2002 for the foreseeable future. I'm trying to create a drop down box. I don't think validation is gonna get the job done here because I don't want anyone to type in the box. I just want them to click on it, pick an item type from the list (lbs, cubic feet etc) and then type a number into the box next to it. I'm building a conversion chart that will apply a formula against the number based on what item is picked from the drop down list. But first things first.
Can anyone tell me how to build a drop box / drop down list of static choices in 2002?
I use Data Validation very often to speed my data entry. As I find new values which seem to crop up more than a few times I go back and add that value to the list so that it appears in the drop-down. This is quite cumbersome. Is there a way that I could when entering a new value (not already in the Data Validation list) run a macro which would automatically add the value which would at that time be in the Active Cell.
