feet and inches to meters
I'm trying to convert from meters to feet and inches (not just feet or not just inches).
so if I have 2 meters, I want the result to read 6 feet, 2 inches for example not 6.x feet or 78 inches.
here's the formula I have, which I can't get right.
I'd like to find a way of converting feet and inches (expressed as, for example = 12'4") to meters (m). I won't be using any imperial fractions.
I've had a play with the convert function which manages to do one or the other (eg feet to meters, inches to meters) but not both together. Of course I'm sure it does but my excel knowledge is woeful.
I have used the following formula to convert to inches,
But when I divide it by the conversion factor inches to meters I get errors
Please can you assist me.
I am working in excel 2003 and I need to convert feet and inches into decimal feet.
Example: 15'-10 5/8" to 15.88542
15'-10 5/8" will be in say, column B, and the conversion will be in say, column Q.
This formula will be copied all the way down the page.
Any thoughts on how to do this or can it even be done in this version?
