Concatenate a VLOOKUP
im trying to use both of these functions but not sure of the syntax. I want to use a vlookup to find a cell then concatenate that with the 3 cell after it. so for example
but I want to return the value of column 31,32,33 and 34 with the concatenate function?
I am having a problem with vlookup. I am wondering if I "=Concatenate" 2 columns then use that concatenated value as the lookup_vlaue in vlookup does it still work? Currently I am getting errors.
I deal with roughly 1500 observations at work and this would tremendously cut down time.
The reason I concatenate is because the data is listed as a course number, section number, then CRN. I want to get the CRN. Some courses are such; 6001, 9001, 7002, then the section numbers identifies them. So to make that value a unique number I concatenate and I get 60011 ( this value is now unique to the spreadsheet )
I attached a demo workbook it only shows a few observations but it is enough to get the point across.
I want to create a generic vlookup table that tells me when a team is playing on a particular date.
I have existing games and dates and want a quick view table to tell me which teams are playing or not playing on a given match day.
I attach a sample of the data I have - can anyone fix a formula for this please?
I have put more detailed instructions in a comment in cell L2.
Using a vlookup, but getting a #n/a only on a few items. I concatenate two cells, then look for the same concatenate in a table. Out of 276 items, only 10 do I get an #N/A. I copied the same date in the two columns I use in the first concatenate columns into the table to do the concatenate in the table. I have narrowed the problem to the data in second column because if I use a different data the formula works. There are matches in the table to the requested data in the formula. I have asked several EXCEL experts in my office to take a look but they can not fine the problem. Very strange. Using
I have been trying to hardcode a file link in vlookup using concatenate and indirect.
My simple formula looks like this
=VLOOKUP($C12,INDIRECT(CONCATENATE(A13,A14)),2,0) (where the same file different sheet is being referenced)
which works perfectly
but when I give the string
=VLOOKUP(&C12,Indirect(Concatenate("C:\[2G Cell Parameters Data1.xls]GCELL'!$B$1:$C$65536")),2,0) (different file and different sheets are being referenced)
the result gives the error #REF!
