Combining Two Spreadsheets
I will try to be brief. A series of Excel spreadsheets were created inadvertently by a secretary using the save as feature. Each has its own name. Each spreadsheet has duplicate as well as unique text. Is there a method that can easily combine without duplicating these spreadsheets into one harmonious spreadsheet?
I want to combine the data from 2 different spreadsheets not one.
I have a common ID column in both spreadsheets (lets call them A and B). Specifically, a column containing employee ID numbers is on both spreadsheets.
How do I add columns from spreadsheet b to spreadsheet A, so that the data on B matches up to the correct employee ID number on A?
This is probably an easy answer but I'm not too good with Excel so apologies in advance. I have a spreadsheet of approximately 10,00
product codes and descriptions. I have a second spreadsheet showing just those with sales to their name (approx 6,00). What is the
easiest way to get the sales alongside the relevant codes on the
original spreadsheet? I imagine this is some kind of vlookup but I am rubbish with them so a very simplistic (non technical) explanation
Version: Microsoft Excel 2007
Here is the question.
I have select data entries (I need the same information from each spreadsheet) in multiple (=52*7) excel spreadsheets (separate files) that I need to collect into 1 spreadsheet. The format of the source table is almost always the same, and the title row of the column that I need to retrieve data from IS ALWAYS the same. Is there a way to save myself some time here, or am I destined to spend the next few hours in copy-paste world?
I could use some help with filters.
I have a spreadsheet I distributed to others to complete and return to me.
Once I got the copies back I combined them into one by copy and pasting the data into one spreadsheet.
Now, though, when I try to sort a column to exclude all "N"s not all "N"s
are excluded. (data is a variety of yes, y, no, N, yes-dept #'s.)
I've tried removing the filters, and re-filtering, but it doesn't work.
I've tried selecting a cell ("N") that is not excluded but should be, then filtering on that, but that process misses other information.
